Gökçen Remes began her piano education in 1989 at Çukurova University Adana State Conservatory as a part-time music student under the guidance of Prof. Boguslaw Wodka. In 1994, she transferred to Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, where she continued her studies with Assist. Prof. Oya Ünlüer. She completed both her high school and undergraduate education at Ankara State Conservatory in 2001 and subsequently began her master’s degree in collaborative piano at the same institution. In 2007, she pursued a second master’s degree in the Piano Department at Ankara State Conservatory, again under the mentorship of Assist. Prof. Oya Ünlüer. During this period, she was accepted into Prof. Roland Batik’s class at Konservatorium Wien in Vienna, Austria, where she studied for one year, performing solo and lied accompaniment concerts. In 2010, she successfully completed her master’s degree in piano performance.

Throughout her education, she attended masterclasses with distinguished musicians, including Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling in Germany, Peter Shepard in Ankara (on contemporary music), and Martin Berkofsky in Washington, D.C., USA. During her time in the United States, she had the opportunity to work with Walter Hautzig and performed a series of four-hand and solo piano concerts. Between 2016 and 2018, she continued her piano studies in Berlin with Laurent Boullet.

In her domestic and international performances, Remes frequently includes works by contemporary Turkish composers. She has premiered and recorded several of these works for radio broadcasts. Notably, she performed Ertuğrul Oğuz Fırat’s compositions at the Istanbul Garaj New Music Festival, which were later released as a CD under the A.K. Müzik label.

Having served as a faculty member at Ankara State Conservatory since 2001, she resigned in 2016 and relocated to Vienna, Austria, where she continues her professional activities at OctOpus Piano, a studio she founded.
