About the Jury Member

Emmanuel Mercier entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris at 14 and obtained there four first prizes (piano, chamber music, harmony and counterpoint).

After several advanced training courses with Professor Evgeny Malinin, he spent a whole year at the Banff Center in Canada, where he met teachers like Professor Gyorgy Sebök, Menahem Pressler, Richard Goode, and also composers like Luciano Berio.

Laureate of piano competitions in France, Italy and Greece, he started playing recitals, chamber music concerts, as well as concerti with orchestras (Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse under the baton of Michel Plasson, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris under the baton of Jean-Jacques Kantorow, led by Luciano Berio in Canada…). He recorded also for the french national radio, and music for theaters and movies. He became from 2017 artistic director of the classical music festival « Jeux de Vagues » in Dinard, that mixes literature and music.

He started to teach at the CNSMDP from 1987, called by his former teacher Gabriel Tacchino to become his assistant. Since then, he has been Professeur Assistant beside Alain Planès, Brigitte Engerer, and Claire Désert. He also taught at the Crr de Paris for twenty years and at the Crd de Montreuil for thirty years.
