About the Jury Member

Shamsiya Mehdiyeva is a pianist and piano pedagogue who graduated from the Piano Department of the Baku State University Music Academy. She began her music education in 1984 at the Uzeyir Hajibeyov Children’s Music School in Nakhchivan and later completed her advanced piano studies at the Uzeyir Hajibeyov Music Vocational College in the same city. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Baku State University Music Academy in 2000.

In 2001, he won the First Prize at the piano competition held at the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, and in 2003, he won the First Prize at the piano competition dedicated to Azerbaijani and European composers.

His performance career includes solo and orchestra concerts. In 2006, he gave a solo piano recital dedicated to Kara Karayev at the Grand Hall of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. In Turkey, he has performed as a pianist with the MSA Symphony Orchestra (2024), the Büyükçekmece Âşık Veysel Stage Symphony Orchestra (2025), and the Büyükçekmece AKM Symphony Orchestra (2025).

He began his educational career in 2000 at the Ertuğrul Cavid Children’s Music and Fine Arts School in Nakhchivan. From 2008 to 2018, he worked as a piano instructor at the Kara Karayev Music School in Baku. Since 2019, the artist has been preparing students for conservatory and fine arts high school entrance exams in Istanbul and continues to work as a piano instructor at the Müzist Art Center.

Shamsiya Mehdiyeva’s artistic and pedagogical approach combines technical proficiency grounded in the academic piano tradition with extensive stage experience, focusing particularly on preparing young pianists for conservatory-level education and their transition to the concert stage.
